You want the look? What to ask for... strong, defined, textured hair

Monday, 28 November 2011 22:00:22 Europe/London

Colin Farrell

We all do it, see a hair style we like but have no idea what to ask for when we go to the hairdressers or how to style it ourselves when we are faced with it day to day without a hairdresser on hand.

Colin's haircut, what to ask for:

Plenty of height and texture thanks to the jagged cut layers through the top section. The sides and back are kept short and neat over his ears.

Now, how to style:

Begin by shampooing with Wella Professionals Pure Purifying Shampoo. If you are going to use a conditioner be aware that this will make the hair silky and less manageable.

So now we get onto styling. Blast dry your hair from wet, in the direction you want the hair to settle.

To create this look you want the hair on the back and sides to lay flat and down while the hair on the top is lifted to create the spikes and angles, both to the right and left.

Apply Sebastian Professional Craft Clay to your fingertips and then rub it into your roots while lifting your strands for added body. Be sure not to use too much at the roots as this can result in a gloopy look.

For added texture, pinch the ends as you go, sparingly. Pinch the clumps in different directions for a messier look.

For a lasting style, spray a fine mist of Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce all over.

Finishing Products: Achieving a Celebrity Style

Wednesday, 21 September 2011 12:34:54 Europe/London

Nicole Richie and Charlotte Ronson

Find out how to create Nicole Richie 60's inspired high ponytail.

Created by Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist Andy Lecompte for the launch of Charlotte Ronson's beauty range on 28 August 2011.

7 Simple Steps:

1. To begin, apply Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray to each section of your already dry hair to leave hair soft, shiny and manageable before smoothing out locks with a flat iron.
2. Next, pull a mo-hawk section of the hair up and away whilst pulling the rest of the hair into a super high pony with two elastics at the crown of the head for extra volume.
3. Release the mo-hawk section of the hair and lightly blast with a blow dryer to find a part and smooth out any kinks.
4. Lightly shake out the top section of the hair to let face-framing fringe fall, then separate the remaining hair into two sections on both sides of the head.
5. One at a time, wrap the sections around the pony pin one at a time and secure with hair pins to hide the elastic and give shape to the head.
6. Smooth fly-aways and set the look with a light mist of Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray
7. Add red-carpet worthy shine with Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray
